As a precautionary measure the district excise unit has launched a massive scale excise raid in the district in view of the forth coming General Election 2019. Mooted on the tips of the Collector & District Magistrated Sri Ramesh Chandra Rout and in the direct supervision of the Excise superintendent Sri Rajendra Bhotra 8 nos. of excise squad have arrested as many as 206 persons involved in illegal trade of country liquor and excisable contraband articles and brown sugar of worth of more than 50 lakhs seized so far. Two duplicate foreign liquor factories have been raided with duplicate adhesive label during the hunt. Special drive at the interstate border area have been geared up to seal the inter state transportation of non-duty paid IMFL, India made Beer. Major focus given on the tourist places like Talsari, Udaypur Sea-beach adjoining to Digha of West Bengal to nab the illegal wine trade during the Election campaign. This kind of intensive raid will continue till completion of election process as reported.
